Delivery formats for sound and picture

Reading time about 4 minutes

WAV 48 kHz/24-bit, ProRes 422 or H.264 in 4K, timecode from session start, archive 18 months. That is how files leave Lychener Straße 54.

Sound containers

Split tracks as WAV, 48 kHz, 24-bit, track layout in a text file beside them. Stereo sum at the same sample rate for a fast send. We do not deliver MP3 as a master.

Picture containers

ProRes 422 in 4K when the edit sits in-house or in a suite with a ProRes licence. H.264 when the desk only needs a fast viewing copy. 16:9 is default; square only as an editing extra.

Timecode

Locally we write timecode from session start. Remote clocks in hybrid links often drift; remotes therefore sit as ISOs, not only in the mix.

Handover paths

A physical drive or a time-limited download that we delete after collection. The public website at Hetzner does not carry masters. FormSubmit carries the request only, not media files.

Archive

18 months after acceptance. Then deletion unless an extension exists in writing. Tax invoices stay 10 years; that is a different archive.

Checklist before the edit

Missing tracks belong in the two session revision rounds, not silently in the fine cut.

  • WAV tracks complete?
  • Sum audible?
  • ProRes or H.264 agreed?
  • Name list for supers
  • Consent covers the planned platform

Berlin desks in 2026

Many houses now ask for a caption track. That costs EUR 18 incl. VAT per film minute, German or English, corrected by us, not as raw recognition.

Book an edit: post-production. Podcast tracks: conversation podcast. Questions: contact.

Why we do not issue MP3 as a master

MP3 saves space and destroys headroom the edit later needs. Hence WAV 48 kHz/24-bit as the track format. The stereo sum at the same sample rate is for listening, not for recoding in three steps. Picture: ProRes 422 when the next suite opens ProRes; H.264 when the need is viewing only. 4K, 16:9. Square only as an editing extra. Local timecode from session start. Hybrid ISOs separate because remote clocks drift.

Handover via a time-limited download or a physical drive. After collection we delete the link. Hetzner hosts voxlyra.click, not the masters. FormSubmit carries the request, not video files. Archive 18 months after session acceptance, not after the last social post. Tax records 10 years — a different archive, a different duty.

Missing tracks belong in the two session revision rounds. Searching silently in the fine cut for a track that was never written burns time at EUR 125 incl. VAT per hour. Captions EUR 18 incl. per film minute with correction. We do not offer raw automatic recognition because names in Berlin desks often mix German with other languages.

Before the edit: all WAVs present, sum audible, container agreed, name list for supers, consent covering the platform. Travel to watch a mix in the control room: U2 Eberswalder Straße, one seat. More people disturb the mix. Saturday only by appointment, Sunday closed. Europe/Berlin. Podcast tracks from the three-hour block follow the same WAV rule; talk-show ISOs likewise. Hybrid remotes sit extra because sync is finished in the edit. If you only want H.264 for sharing, say so in the request; ProRes then drops without a discount because the session work stays the same.

The public domain voxlyra.click carries preview stills, not masters. The apple-touch icon and favicon are site marks, not show marks. We do not push a desk's delivery formats into a third-party house network. Time-limited links expire; if they are lost, ask for a new one while the 18-month archive still holds. After expiry we delete without a reminder if no extension exists in writing. A second caption language is booked as separate per-minute rates for German and English, not as a bundle.
